Welcoming Professionals New to Visitor Studies
Application Procedures and Form
Background: The April Award is a $500 travel stipend and waived conference registration fee for a first-time attendee who is new to the field of visitor studies. The April Award supports the attendance of a new professional at the Annual Visitor Studies Conference. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of the applicant's potential to contribute to the growth of the Visitor Studies Association and the field of visitor studies. Preference will be given to individuals who are from institutions that have not had representatives at the VSA Conference within the last three years. Applications are due by March 1, 2008. All applicants will be notified of their standing by April 1, 2008. The 12th Annual April Award will be presented at the Visitor Studies Conference in Houston, Texas, on July 18, 2008.
Eligibility: April Award recipients share VSA's passion for improving the quality of visitor experiences. To be eligible for the award, an applicant must:
- Be a non-student member of VSA
- New members are welcome; an applicant may join VSA when applying for the award. Click here for more on becoming a member.
- Applicants with institutional memberships are eligible
- VSA student members are not eligible for the April Award , but are invited to apply for the Student Scholarship Awards.
- Be new to the field of audience research and evaluation (i.e., practicing audience research and/or evaluation for three years or less at the time of the application);
- Have not attended a previous Visitor Studies Conference.
